Holding Point (Private - Zzov)

Post by Zero on Wed Jun 08, 2016 12:31 am

The delicate warm rays of sunlight peeked through the ominous silhouettes of leviathan skyscrapers as the sun lifted itself gradually from the horizon, heralding the arrival of a new day. As morning began to pass over the capital, hordes of it's residents began to pour from their homes like waves of life; crashing and pushing their way onto the sides walks before retreating, only to return again. Max would watch it all as time inched by, perched on the top of a towering building. He could only wonder what it must have been like to live a normal life..

Well, normal enough. That is, if you saw gangs, drunks, hookers and wealthy politicians as normal... 'Normal'.. What was normal, anyway? He almost chuckled, however, couldn't do anymore than crack a unenthusiastic smirk. Light shafts lit a comforting orange glow against Max's helmet. The warmth began to make him drowsy, reminding him of how tired he really was. He had been stationed here to make way for some scribes looking to conjure up some supplies for the base in Decastrad. Apparently some rations were going to be delivered here. Right now he was holding point, making sure no troublemakers decided they needed a thousand pounds of hardtack.

Like any thief would just conveniently drive a helicopter past and think stealing a bunch of crates of food would be a good idea. Although, he supposed you could never be too careful. After all, it wasn't really a risk they could take at the moment. Sighing heavily, he crossed his legs and slid out his bowie knife. As he tilted it, the light reflected brightly of it's surface. .. I wonder if she's okay.. He began to wonder grimly, his heart now as heavy as his eyes. I'm worrying too much.. Pouting won't make me money. He yawned dramatically, blinking the sleep out of his eyes and stretching his aching muscles. For a moment, as he looked up, he was left to stare, mystified at the masquerade of purple, orange and pink that painted the sky like a canvas.

I suppose there's one last thing that hasn't been ruined by these morons. Max thought sourly. As if it were in response to his thoughts, a jet flew past, interrupting the morning serenity with it's thundering roar. He grit his teeth in frustration and lowered his head. Figures..

With that, he reached into his pouches and pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. It was the only thing to entertain him, since shooting at civilians wasn't exactly legal. He flipped open the front of his helmet, stuck the cigarette in his mouth and lit it with a flick of the lighter. Tossing the lighter aside, he moved his jaw to position the cigarette at the side of his mouth. This was far from the greatest part of his job but.. it was a job nonetheless.

A man in business attire walked through the crowded sidewalk, making his way past all the other people with a sizable gray duffle bag in hand, he wore dark shades and a tilted hat, to cover his eyes from the sun. He walked forward with an almost blank expression, walking rather quickly, people being bumped out of his way as he didn't move for them. They only gave him looks or made comments he did not pay attention too, his eyes were on someone else, a middle-aged male speaking on his cellphone, having some coffee at a bench. He had gotten up after a minute, putting his hand in his pocket and pacing around as he spoke with someone. Laughing a bit. This man however with the duffle bag walked with haste, he approached the male put his hand on the shoulder of this one and turned him around roughly, it spilled the coffee a bit on the man's white shirt "Hey, what the hell do you think you are doing?!" The man said looking at the fresh stain, his response was a light thud, the man flinched and the other one walked off. Blending back into the crowd, and walking quickly. The business man took a moment to look down at his chest to surprisingly find a small red dot that slowly grew into a large blood stain, he fell over. People walked up to him before screaming and scattering as they saw it was a gun shot wound. Some calling the local authorities. Zov had entered a alley between two sky scrapers, taking off the business outfit and throwing it in the dumpster before lighting a match and then dropping the whole match box inside.

Opening his duffle bag and changing into a more recognizable outfit, that of his own. Fastening his gas mask and bracers, throwing over his hood and adjusting his jetpack. He typed on the GPS tracking tablet and looked for his next target; a Roger Allen, searching and finding the building where he had been staying. This Roger was at work, he was a manager, barking commands and giving rude comments and degradations to his fellow employees as they worked on counting and moving the supplies destined for a base in Decastrad, this was no problem for Zovetsky, he'd just have to make his way up. He looked over to the building and activated his pack, flying up quickly to the 24th floor, not many people noticed him as they were too busy, and the ones that did quickly ignored what they just saw out of disbelief. Zov hovered over one of the windows, Roger stood near the window between two desks, "Alright we need to hurry this up people! Time is running short!" Roger demanded, an employee stopped and pointed behind Roger which made him turn, adjusting his glasses. There was the assassin, wielding a pistol to him, Roger stumbled out of fear and a quick shot went through the window, hitting the neck of the employee, everyone screamed and Roger made a run for it.

The hitman sighed, bashed through the window, and shoving the others out of his way, chasing in hot pursuit after Roger who knocked down things to slow him down, but this did not work one bit. He slammed the door behind him as he rushed up the stairwell "Security!" he cried as he ran up the stairs, Zov activated his jetpack and flew up to him, he would have killed him if Roger hadn't burst through the door, onto the roof, the manager sprinted to Max, the one who was supposed to be guarding the place. "Help me!" he yelled in terror, falling mid-way. Zov was tired of this and slammed the door open, drawing his compound bow, looking to the armored male and his target. Standing there. Watching closely.

Max took a puff of the cigarette, inhaling the gritty smoke before blowing it out in a pungent grey cloud. God it tasted horrible, he wrinkled his nose and re-positioned in his mouth once again. While he was busy watching the daily morning rush occurring down below, a catastrophe that would likely compromise his mission boiled within the building. He frowned, glaring down at the commotion brewing not far away. Faint cries of distress could be heard from his perch upon the roof. Their faces wore a mask of dismay. He frowned, raising a brow, the sudden change of atmosphere sparking his interest. A fight?

The spark faded quickly as he recalled his orders. As he was briefed, he was distinctly told was not to get involved in anything other than his duty. Max hadn't complained at the time, but now he was beginning to get a little fidgety. Hours it had been. No sign of the scribes, the delivery or anything that might get in his way. Fortune clearly wasn't on his side today. As he prepared to go down and ask the employees what was taking so damn long, he was stopped in his tracks by muffled screams coming from within the building. Just as he was ready to charge in and confront whatever was causing this disruption, the manager came crashing out of the door that opened to the stairwell leading up to the roof.

When the manager skidded to a halt at Max's feet, Max grumbled in annoyance at his pitiful cowering. "You better have a damn good reason.." He began, trailing off when the mercenary made his appearance. He furrowed his brows, eyeing them closely. On further examination he noticed the distinct branding of Avenoir; The mercenaries. So this guy was getting paid to kill someone and, from what he could see, his target was the manager. Max glanced down at the manager, a sinister sparkle in his eyes. He grabbed the manager by the collar of the shirt and held him up like a lifeless ragdoll, his limbs dangling helplessly as he squirmed in his grip. "You want him.. Is that right?" He spoke darkly, his voice edged with bitter cold. His steel colored eyes reflecting traces of the sun that illuminated half of his body.

The manager grunted as he was lifted up, holding on to Max's hand, squirming to get free. Panting some in fear "Wh-What are you doing?..Put me down!" The manager ordered, fear clear in his eyes. Glasses partially cracked. Zov lightly pulled back the string of his bow, the energy arrow started to grow and form, getting ready to fire it if this stranger was planning on doing something. He watched in silence, focusing on his every movement, waiting for the right moment. It was about a minute of silence before Zov opened his mouth to speak "Put him down, walk away." he spoke lowly, Zov would have normally just killed them both on the spot; but he was just planning to get the kill and be on his way opposed to having to fight this man. However Zov was always prepared for everything..

Max tightened his grip on the manager, making sure he wouldn't be able to slip away if he thrashed too much. This guy expected him to just walk away? Perhaps it would be the best option, instead of laughing in the face of what could possibly be death, however, Max wasn't one who would allow himself to back down out of submission. He glared daggers at the intruder, slowly slipping his free hand- hidden behind his cloak- toward the grip of his pistol in preparation for the worst. "I can't do that." He responded plainly, slowly inching forward a few paces, his eyes locked on the visor of the gasmask that barricaded the man's face.

Dammit. The man had seen his face. He became aware that the front of his helmet was still open. Hopefully, the man hadn't identified him in that time. Or he'd likely become another one of his dedicated targets. He lifted a hand to the side of his helmet and shut it, concealing his face once again. His hand then returned to his pistol hidden underneath his cloak.

Zov sighed inaudibly, it looked like he was just going to have to murder them both, "The more the merrier" he said under his breath before suddenly dropping and sliding right as he pulled and let go of his bow, firing a energy arrow spiraling at a high velocity towards his target and to this man in his way. In addition he pulled out his high caliber pistol while he slid, readying that as well.

Max darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the speeding arrow that raced past his head. In an instant, he dropped the manager onto the ground, slamming his boot onto his back to keep him down and drew his dual 9mm semi-automatic pistols and fired a few shots at the mercenary's legs to hopefully immobilize him.

Zovetsky had slid towards the opponent, rolling to his right the second he saw him draw two pistols. Swiftly evading the gunfire, getting back up quickly, looking to the male, thinking for just a split second before Zov would activate his jetpack and dive towards him with such a boosted speed. It hopes it would knock him off, if he were going to kill this man; it would have to be up close. Those guns would surely be the end of the hitman if he didn't get out of the open or bring the fight in close quarters.

Max, despite his agility, was too pre-occupied to prepare for the pain-train that came hurtling toward him. The wind was knocked out of him as Zzov crashed into him headfirst. For a few moments he would stumble, trying to regain his breath and keep steady on his feet. However, like any experienced fighter, he braced himself, well aware that a mercenary wouldn't dare miss the opportunity. Jetpacks, huh? Well that would be a issue. But the real issue was that the mercenary was now close enough to fight him face-to-face without the need of guns. It was about time to see how light this guy was on his feet.
